KEB Hana Bank said Wednesday that it had filed patent applications for 46 technologies to accelerate its blockchain projects.
The patents pending include shopping concierge systems for overseas goods; methods and systems for electronic contracts; methods and systems for digital asset services; and methods and systems for inventory management.
The blockchain-based shopping concierge is a service intended to help consumers buy goods without going abroad on the blockchain platform by linking consumers at home with people scheduled to visit other countries.
If a shopper and a concierge marketer concur on right conditions, a smart contract is to be concluded automatically, thereby reducing shopping costs. Safety in transactions is to increase by the use of an escrow account through which payments are made only when conditions are met.
The blockchain-based electronic contract service envisions issuing IOUs. When individuals transfer funds, blockchain-based IOUs can be issued in accordance with the customer’s request. KEB Hana Bank says this service is suitable for transactions between close friends who can feel it burdensome to write a contract.
A bank official said, “We will push ahead with diverse projects based on new patents. Some of them are already under development.” /edshin@decenter.kr
